After weeks of uncertainty, concern, and collective grief, there is finally a moment of relief and hope coming from Karnataka’s wildlife corridors.
In today’s State Wildlife Board meeting, the Honourable Chief Minister has agreed to reopen safari operations in Nagarhole and Bandipur. This decision comes after careful review, discussion, and strong recommendations from wildlife authorities and board members.
What Changed?
During the meeting, all members of the Wildlife Board expressed their support for reopening safaris, stressing that the situation on the ground has significantly improved.
Notably, Anil Kumble, along with several other board members, personally requested the Chief Minister to allow safari operations to resume.
The request was strongly supported by the Principal Chief Conservators of Forests (PCCFs), who confirmed that:

• The immediate threat has been addressed
• Monitoring has been strengthened
• Forest staff and rapid response teams remain on high alert

Taking all these factors into account, the Chief Minister agreed to reopen safaris.
While the official circular is awaited, preparations are already underway.
